Udon Menu

Udon dishes primarily feature two main types of broth: "Kake-dashi", which is light and clear,

and "Tsuke-dashi", which is richer and more concentrated. We use these broths as the base for our other variations, such as our curry udon broth.
Unique to Tanohisa, we also offer intensely spicy homemade dishes that don't use any traditional Japanese dashi at all.

It's so spicy it's lethal!

This intensely spicy dish uses "Bhut Jolokia", once certified as the world's hottest chili pepper. For reference, the current hottest is Pepper X at 2.69 million Scoville units, followed by Dragon's Breath at 2.48 million Scoville units, and then Bhut Jolokia at 1 million Scoville units.
Tabasco, by the way, is around 5,000 Scoville units.

This udon features Bhut Jolokia, a chili pepper boasting an astonishing
capsaicin content, recording over 1 million Scoville units. Bhut Jolokia is
such a potent spice that it can cause inflammation upon skin contact.
Therefore, consuming this dish may lead to stomach discomfort or abdominal
pain for individuals with sensitive stomachs, children, or those
unaccustomed to spicy foods. Please be advised that our establishment
assumes no responsibility for any adverse reactions. Only those who are
ready for the challenge should consume this dish.

Tempura is an essential topping for udon. Customize your udon just the way you like it with your favorite tempura, from classic Chikuwa Tempura (fish cake) to Vegetable Kakiage (mixed vegetable fritter).

 

Of course, all our tempura is fried fresh after you order, so it's always piping hot. What's more, we offer these at the same affordable prices as self-service udon restaurants.

Inquiries and Reservations

Our shop is conveniently located between the 17th temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage,

Ido-ji, and the 18th temple, Onzan-ji. Because of this, we welcome many pilgrims and tourists.

If you're visiting by tour bus, please make a reservation in advance so we can secure your parking space. We have parking for 25 passenger cars. We can also tailor our menu to fit your budget, so don't hesitate to contact us with your requests.

TA NO KYU

"Tano Kyu" was founded by the first-generation owner who left his office job after training at udon restaurants in Tokushima and Kagawa. Initially, we only offered various udon dishes, chirashi sushi, and inari sushi.

Over forty years later, our menu has expanded significantly. We now offer udon and donburi where you can choose the number of shrimp tempura you'd like, as well as homemade fried chicken donburi and set meals. We're always adding new items to meet our customers' needs.

Even with the trends of handmade udon and Sanuki udon booms, and self-service udon becoming the norm, we stubbornly stick to our traditional style. Our broth and noodles still follow the original recipes from our founder.
